FINALPART: WHAT THIS MOTHERHOOD HAS TAUGHT ME

Motherhood from afar has reshaped my understanding of love.

I once believed motherhood meant being physically present — holding small hands, hearing laughter daily, correcting mistakes in real time. But Allah, in His wisdom, chose a different path for me. A path where love travels across borders, where parenting happens through sacrifice, patience, and endless duʿā’.

This journey taught me that motherhood is not limited to distance. It lives in intention. It lives in the choices we make when no one is watching. It lives in waking up every day and choosing responsibility, even when the heart longs for what it cannot touch.

Motherhood from afar taught me that providing is not just financial. It is emotional endurance. It is تحمل when loneliness becomes familiar. It is strength when exhaustion has no witness except Allah.

I learned that some of the heaviest forms of love are silent.

That some of the strongest mothers cry quietly.

That some of the deepest sacrifices are misunderstood by people — but fully known by Allah.

This journey forced me to trust Allah in ways I never had before. When I could not protect my children with my presence, I learned to protect them with duʿā’. When I could not guide every step, I placed their future in the hands of Ar-Rahmaan.

Motherhood from afar taught me humility — that control is an illusion, and reliance is a gift. It taught me patience — not the loud kind, but the quiet one that keeps going even when the heart is tired.

I learned that it is possible to feel broken and still function.

To miss your children deeply and still fulfill your duties.

To carry grief and gratitude in the same heart.

Most of all, this motherhood taught me that strength does not come from having answers. It comes from trusting Allah when there are none.

I do not know when reunion will come.

I do not know how the story will unfold.

But I know this with certainty: Allah does not waste sacrifices made for His sake. Every tear, every moment of longing, every act of patience is recorded.

This is motherhood from afar.

Heavy, yet honorable.

Painful, yet purposeful.

Incomplete in the eyes of people, but complete with Allah.

Closing Duʿā’

O Allah, You are the Knower of hearts and the Witness of every sacrifice.

O Allah, protect our children wherever they are.

Place them under Your mercy when our arms cannot reach them.

Grant strength to every mother parenting from a distance.

Replace our patience with reward, our tears with ease, and our longing with a reunion that brings healing.

O Allah, accept from us what we do for Your sake, and make it a means of closeness to You.

Alhamdulillah for everything.

Alhamdulillah, always.
